Standard affair here: DecentNov 11 2008Geography and Geosciences
Standard affair here: Decent GPA (3.5+ to be competitive), Standardized test scores (in my opinion, 1800+ puts you in range), essays that show originality of thought and artful use of language, and a few co-curriculars that show both your passion for some cause and potential to lead. BU tends to be a safety school for top students, but if you find that your scores seem well above the averages on the website don't be dismayed. BU offers very, very generous scholarships to their top students.

Just a decentMay 04 2008Other
Just a decent GPA and test scores. If you worked decently hard in high school you should get in. Extracurriculars always help out. They do give some nice merit scholarships which require a much stronger resume than it takes to just get in. Most of the full-tuition scholarships they offer are turned down by students that get into Ivies.
SAT: 1530 Female
Good gradeApr 02 2008Business - Management and Administration
Good grades, great SATs. Work hard and don't slack. Make note of what school at BU you apply into.

Community service of any kind will help in getting in, and freshman scholarships are usually awarded based on high school GPA and SAT scores.

I have always been the super smart unmotivated typeMar 02 2008Political Science
I have always been the super smart unmotivated type. So, I did nothing in high school and got into a state college. While there, I decided after an unimpressive first year that I wanted to go to a better college, so I put in a bit of effort and got my GPA up to a 3.45. I wrote a kick ass essay about how BU is a bunch of hypocrites for not stripping Martin Luther King of his Ph.D. for plagiarism, yet being a bunch of plagiarism Nazi's on their website. Surprisingly, they let me in. It was my top choice, making my essay choice all the more risky. My backup was Northeastern, and they took me as well.
